Big Deal, the youth gambling help organisation came to us with a challenge, encapsulated by a senior member of their leadership team explaining “Our current website is giving me palpitations”

We helped them translate that into an effective digital tool to support young people between 11-16 at risk of gambling harm.

The challenge we were set (and set ourselves) was to get across quite complex information, whilst projecting a professional and friendly face to a wide range of audiences.

These encompassed young people at risk of, and currently having issues with gambling, their friends, family and affected others – as well as professionals, media and those in a capacity to help.

We worked closely with the Big Deal team to design and develop a web property that is fast, efficient and easy to manage and update.

Our strategy team got to work on the ‘why’ (working backwards from expected results and what a great experience would be for key user groups). Whilst in parallel we reviewed competitors, ideated on what best-in-class looks and feels like and implemented quick ideas to test.

Our creative and design team then came up with some stellar routes for consideration, before the content team sprints to align with TOV, sitemap and writing began.

Within a short timeframe of 6 weeks, we launched the site. We did this through rapid creative and user experience sprints, creating content, building, testing and launch – we developed a strong brand refresh and delivered all UX, design and development.

We then integrated LiveChat for users, as well as booking interactions for professionals and carers to access workshops and further information. Finally, we tested the full experience on mobile and desktop, before checking speed and effectiveness before launch.

The end result is a well-used, easy-to-maintain digital asset that continues to be a central pillar of the BigDeal mission to support young people at risk of gambling harm.
